Qld: BHP taking legal action against striking miners
BRISBANE, Feb 8 AAP - Mining giant BHP will initiate contempt of court proceedings
against striking coal miners in the federal court here tomorrow.
Production at 12 BHP coal mines ground to a halt when 2,500 workers in Queensland and
900 in New South Wales defied a court order and walked off the job.
Workers at seven Queensland mines returned to work at noon today but Construction,
Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) colleagues in NSW were threatening to extend
the strike action by 24 hours.
